Waldo, Florida 1982 -- For decades, the tiny North Central Florida town of Waldo has been on the radar of AAA and other motorists' organizations for being a notorious speed trap. Those who have received speeding tickets throughout the years will enjoy this moment when Waldo police chief Dick Moorhaus, in hot pursuit in this 1982 photo, must wait for his patrol car to be repaired. Since it was the only working official vehicle at the time (the other two were also out of order), drivers who didn't observe the 30-mph speed limit got a momentary reprieve. The car was eventually towed to a repair shop. Waldo has had several police chiefs since this photo was made, and continues to enforce the speed limit in this crossroad community on US 301 between Gainesville, Florida and I-10 and Jacksonville.. .CONTACT Carla Hotvedt at SILVER IMAGE Photo Agency and Weddings 352.373-5771 or
